Stress Less Girlfriend | 6 Tips To Survive Exams

This week’s blog post is a shout-out to all our babes out there who are studying and are about to dive into the most hectic part of their studies. Life is going to feel like an avalanche but just know, everything is going to be OK. We feel you. It’s a stressful time of the year. So when you get to the point where you feel like all the prepping you’ve done through the late nights to the early mornings are still not enough and are still leaving you stressed AF… Have a little read of the following tips. We guarantee they’ll help.

Music
It’s true, music helps soothe the soul. Whenever I’m down in the dumps, I just pop on some relaxing music. Playing calming and relaxing music has a positive effect on the brain and body.

Catch Up With Friends
As in a ‘cute little coffee date’ kind of catch up, not the ‘endless amounts of wine over dinner’ kind of catch up… because one, you’ll be too hungover to study and two, you’ll just be left feeling worse off because we all know, when you’re hungover, 9/10 times you’ll waste your day eating junk food, watching Netflix or sleeping.
Sometimes a reassuring voice, can put everything in perspective. Even if it is only a quick phone call. Always remember, a problem shared is a problem halved.

Eating Right
Like they say, you are what you eat. So if you’re eating like shit, you’re going to feel like shit. Stress levels and a proper diet are closely related so it’s important to nourish your insides with the right food.

Laughing
Have a good ol’ laugh. Watch a quick video compilation of dogs doing funny things to get it into gear. Laughter releases endorphins that improve your mood and decrease levels of the stress-causing hormones. By laughing, you’re tricking your nervous system into making you happy. This might sound weird, but try fake laughing out loud together with friends, it’ll end up making you all laugh for real.

Exercise
I know it’s not everyone’s favourite word but it honestly helps SO much to relieve stress. My personal choice of exercise for when I’m stressed out is yoga. If you can’t get to a class, no problem. Download the app Yoga Studio and get a session in before bed or maybe before you start your day. If yoga isn’t your thang, go for a nice long walk. You couldn’t do yourself a bigger favour.

Sleep
I know if I haven’t had enough sleep, I’m all over the place. I’m not thinking straight, I become forgetful, I’m cranky and just simply don’t have the energy to do anything! So make sure you’re getting enough sleep in! If you have to stay up late one night, balance it out the next with an earlier bed time. This can all comes down to your time management so it’s important that you don’t leave things to the last minute!
